Due to ongoing growth, we have an exciting opportunity to assist with developing the award winning Uniquely Scotland brand for an initial 8-month period starting in March 2019. The role would be on a part time basis of a minimum of 4 days per week from our new office near Dunblane. You will have the opportunity to conduct private tours around Scotland and work would involve a wide range of experience covering all aspects of running a bespoke tour operator business including:

  • Itinerary planning for clients/responding to client enquiries
  • Conducting driver guided private tours all over Scotland and northern England in 9-seater people carrier, some training can be provided
  • General administration work including handling bookings, invoicing and issuing of tickets and itineraries for driver guided tours, train and self-drive itineraries
  • Working with other suppliers such as accommodation and activity providers
  • Marketing. Social media, news blogs, press releases and working with other tourism bodies such as Visit Scotland
  • Producing brochures and internet-based information
  • Assisting with the accounts and book keeping
  • Using market research information to guide decisions
  • Attend travel shows and other relevant tourism events on behalf of Uniquely Scotland

Skills required:

  • Excellent people skills, enthusiasm and a passion for Scotland
  • Excellent driving skills; experience working with small 9 seater people carriers desirable
  • You will represent the company delivering all aspects of our tour programme to domestic
    and international customers. This includes public speaking and delivery of historical, cultural
    and entertaining information
  • An ability to communicate your knowledge and entertain people from all over the world
  • Tours vary from one day to twelve days in length so nights away from home will be required including weekends
  • Display a high degree of flexibility and adaptability (able to work away from home and at short notice if required)
  • Use your own initiative and problem solving skills to provide a seamless service to passengers
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Good IT skills, especially using Microsoft Excel and Word
  • An outgoing, confident, ‘can do’ personality
  • Excellent geographical knowledge of Scotland, its history, heritage and culture and an interest to continuously develop this knwledge
  • Previous experience working with a tour operator preferred although not essential
  • Provide a personal, professional and friendly client service
  • Full driving license (maximum 6 points)

Job specification:

The role is minimum 4 days per week 09.00-17.00 per week including weekends. You will get paid overtime for tours you take out with this period. The contract will run until November 2019 with the possibility of an extension.
